communications and fiber optic conduitCommunications and Fiber Optic Conduit

Oxford Plastics manufactures communications and fiber optic conduit to house and protect fiber optic cable as well as any other type of data or communication transmission line. Our reliance on the phone, cable TV, CATV, radio and other networks like the Internet places a high demand on the protection and performance of these cables. Our plastic pipe exceeds these expectations with low cost installation and prompt delivery. Our pipe provides outstanding performance benefits to the communications or fiber optic systems. Our pipe endures the normal stresses of installation along with providing long term benefits such as reliability and superior protection.

This page should be about all communication cabling including fiber optic and copper and electrical wiring.

Advantages of HDPE Fiber Optic Conduit
HDPE fiber optic conduit is considered the best protection for telecommunications, CATV and electric power transmission lines. While optical fibers are inherently robust, their small size and vulnerability to moisture requires that they be housed in several layers of protection to provide long term reliability and optimal performance. The single most important component in protecting fiber optic cable from environmental and mechanical stresses is the outer jacket or housing. When installed outdoors, these cables will be exposed to extremely high pulling forces during installation and subsequently to wide temperature extremes, water, moisture, sunlight, crushing forces, and possibly rodents.

To protect these cables, our pipe offers excellent UV and water resistance, low temperature flexibility and superior resistance to abrasion and scrapes. When multiple ducts are installed in the same trench and customers want each conduit or duct identified separately, our pipe is available in many color and stripe combinations for identification purposes. Our conduit comes in smooth or ribbed outer wall and smooth or ribbed inner wall configurations and is available with pull tape or pull rope. With its high performance characteristics, crush strength, bending radius, and superior pulling ability, our hdpe pipe gives communication cables the necessary security and protection against road utility construction, random dig ups, and harsh environmental damage. Cable and fiber optics installed in hdpe conduit experience fewer failures than direct buried cables, and the cost of replacing a cable in conduit is far less than the cost of replacing buried cables.

Our fiber optic conduit offers:

  • Superior protection in harsh, damp environments
  • Low resistance to pulled-in cable
  • Watertight and moisture proof seal when fusion welded
  • Flexibility and ease of installation
  • Color coding for easy identification
  • Convenient casing sizes
  • Durability, long-term sustained strength and integrity
  • Environmental safety
  • Ease of handling, shipping and installation.

Applications of HDPE Communications Conduit
HDPE communications conduit has been used by leading data and communication network builders across the United States, Canada and around the world. Our conduit houses and protects fiber optic cable as well as any other type of data or communication transmission line. It can be used for everything from the cable TV in residential construction, domestic and international telephone networks, intra-city fiber optic networks and in long distance and city fiber optic networks.
